Background

With the Blackness Temple a metaplot was started to be introduced in the Timewalking events:

  • An unknown entity time-traveled to the Black Temple right before the original Illidari attack on Mardum and modified the battleplans for the incoming assail to brand them fifty-fifty meliorate. Vormu of the bronze dragonflight came as well late to stop this modification of the timeline.[3]
  • Another unknown entity (or the same) time-traveled to Ulduar in order to tamper with and artificially age the titan locks belongings Yogg-Saron in place, releasing the Old God forty millennia early.[4]

History

Blizzard announced in May 2014 that they were working on a way for college-level players to tackle lower-level dungeon and raid content, with abilities and gear scaled down to an appropriate level. Likely using the same engineering science used for Challenge Fashion, the Proving Grounds, and scaled battlegrounds, Timewalker mode would allow players to feel older dungeons and raids at a challenging level.[5]

The underlying organisation was largely implemented with patch 5.four.0 in September 2013,[6] but was not yet accessible to players. Notwithstanding, some players have previously been able to access the mode through a bug in certain dungeons, allowing them to feel an incomplete version of the feature.[6] [7]

The plan is to initially introduce the characteristic for dungeons only.[5]

Prior to the release of the official "Timewalking" proper name, the title "Timewalker" came primarily from game data list this championship as an additional category of case. Due to the background addition of the new characteristic effectually the aforementioned fourth dimension, besides as this plain being a very fitting title for the new mode, the term has been widely adopted past players to refer to the planned feature.
